Pulleys and Gears Review

Name a couple of ways pulleys and gears are used in everyday life? (e.g., flagpole, clothesline or crane-clocks, egg beaters, engines or bicycles)

Name different types of pulleys.
(e.g., fixed, moveable)

Label a diagram of a pulley.

Explain what a mechanical advantage is-how much easier a system makes it to lift a load (e.g., 100kg-mechanical advantage is 4 then it would only be 25kg of effort-¼ of an effort)

Name the 4 types of gears. (Rack and Pinion, Worm Gear, Spur Gear and Bevel Gear)

What is it called when 3 or more are combined? A gear train

Label a diagram of a gear system. (Gear, Teeth, Meshed Area and Axle)

Explain the speed and direction a gears go in. (e.g., A gear with the most teeth will go faster or slower or interlocking gears will turn in the same or opposite direction)
